RIA Template and Guidelines
A template document for creating a RIA is set out above. The template can be saved to your desktop as a document. In compiling their RIA, officials may also wish to consult the revised Regulatory Impact Analysis Guidelines.
Following an independent Review of the Operation of RIA in 2008, the original guidelines were revised in line with the recommendations from the Report on the Review of the Operation of RIA.
An online training tool for an introduction to RIA is available from the Civil Service Training and Development Centre.
Officials are reminded that RIAs should be published along with the draft legislation, Directive or Statutory Instrument.
